A very autumnal start to the day, but already the clouds are clearing and the sun is showing through in places.

The berries on the Rowan are ripening nicely. Last year they were stripped at this point by a flock of passing goldfinches. I wonder how long they will stay this year. They usually sustain the resident birds during a cold snap. Thankfully we didn’t have one last year.

Beside the Rowan stands our apple tree. This year the walk down the garden will be worth it – we have an abundance of fruit.

And it’s almost time for harvest!
